In this interview, filmed at the 2025 Fall Carolina Cyber Network Convening & Career Fair, Gabe gets with Mignon Ndjoli, a cybersecurity student at Wake Tech Community College, to talk about Mignon’s journey into cybersecurity, areas of interest within the field, and the advice he received from industry professionals during the convening career fair.
Mignon shares why cybersecurity captured his attention, the different career pathways he is exploring (including cyber defense, cloud, and networking), and a meaningful moment with Dr. Sharon, who emphasized the importance of critical thinking and risk management for success in IT and cybersecurity. “She gave me some important advice to follow — especially in the cybersecurity world. Those are the key elements to be successful in IT, not just cybersecurity.”
From dressing for success to actively connecting with employers, Mignon represents the future of North Carolina’s cybersecurity workforce.
