Montreat College and the Carolina Cyber Center (C3) were honored to join the Carolina Cyber Network (CCN) and the NC Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) to honor students Caleb Johnson-White and William “Boone” Robertson, who were formally recognized during a ceremonial signing as part of NCDIT’s inaugural cybersecurity internship cohort.
This groundbreaking initiative, launched in partnership with NCDIT and CCN, creates a direct pipeline from cyber education to mission-critical roles in state government. Caleb, a student at Montreat College, and Boone, representing C3 of Montreat College, are two of just ten students statewide selected for this first cohort.
Montreat College President Dr. Paul Maurer, Associate Professor of Cybersecurity Kelli Burgin, Professor Thomas Hill, and C3 Director Ed Carroll attended the event in support of the students’ achievement.
“This partnership doesn’t just place students. It positions them at the forefront of North Carolina’s cybersecurity strategy,” said Carroll. “We’re building a secure future by investing in talent today.”
The program reflects the shared commitment of Montreat and C3 to excellence in cyber education and hands-on, workforce-ready training.
