Carolina Cyber Network

Catawba Valley Community College and the CVCC Cybersecurity Center of Excellence will host the next session of the Cyber Bytes virtual lunch-and-learn series on June 24. This session will bring together cybersecurity and healthcare professionals to examine the evolving threat landscape facing organizations across critical sectors.

The upcoming session, titled Current State of Cyber Security – 2026, will feature cybersecurity incident response expert Lee Sult, who will discuss how current geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing Iran conflict, are contributing to an increase in destructive cyberattacks targeting civilian infrastructure and operational environments.

As CCN’s Healthcare Sector Lead, CVCC continues to play an important role in strengthening cybersecurity awareness, workforce readiness, and operational resilience across the healthcare ecosystem. While Cyber Bytes is designed with healthcare organizations in mind, the topics addressed during the series regularly extend across manufacturing, education, government, utilities, and other sectors navigating similar operational and cybersecurity challenges.

Lee Sult brings nearly two decades of experience in cybersecurity incident response and crisis management. Prior to joining Binalyze, Sult was the first member of Palantir Technologies’s cyber incident response team, where he managed large-scale and high-impact incidents around the world. His experience working alongside law enforcement, emergency management teams, and private-sector organizations provides a unique perspective on how organizations can prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyber crises.

The Cyber Bytes series reflects CCN’s broader focus on connecting operational realities with workforce development and cybersecurity preparedness across North Carolina. Through sector-led collaboration, live exercises, industry engagement, and practical discussions, CCN member institutions continue helping students, educators, and professionals better understand the challenges shaping today’s cyber environment.

CVCC’s ValleySim Hospital, one of the largest simulation hospitals in the Southeast, also supports this mission through live-fire cyber exercises designed to help healthcare professionals at every level prepare for cyber incidents impacting patient care and operations.

The virtual Cyber Bytes session will take place Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. EST.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance to reserve their spot and receive the virtual meeting invitation prior to the session.
